Odette-hit MisOr communities receive relief assistance from EAI-PH, OURmindaNOW Messaging Hub

Four hundred (400) families in Sugbongcogon, Misamis Oriental received relief assistance (food and non-food items) from EAI-Philippines and OURmindaNOW Messaging Hub on December 30, 2021. These families were displaced when #TyphoonOdette (Rai) brought heavy torrential rains and violent winds affecting more than seven provinces in Mindanao and Visayas on December 16, 2021.

In the province of Misamis Oriental alone, 9,185 families are recorded to have been hit heavily by the typhoon through floods, landslides, and strong winds. With the strong coordination of EAI-PH staff, the Municipal Local Government Unit and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Sugbongcogon, more than 1,800 individuals benefited from the relief distribution initiated by EAI-Philippines in partnership with the EAI Headquarters in Washington D.C. Northern Mindanao-based Tech Camp alumni and messaging hub members also volunteered and joined the distribution with EAI-PH staff.
