Worried that your kids are not in school during this #coronavisus crisis? Worry no more. Here’s what you can do to make the most of the time with your kids during these #stayathome days.
DO NOT PANIC. KEEP THE SCHEDULE/ROUTINE.
Wake up as if you go to school. Brush your teeth, take a bath, change your clothes. Have breakfast together. Discuss what would they like to do during the day. Get lunch when its lunch and dinner when its ready. Don’t forget the healthy meriendas too!
TEACH THEM SOMETHING NEW.
Teach them household chores. Cook, wash dishes, clean the sala. Read a book, old or new, with them. Watch a new subject matter with them on the internet. Just make sure they don’t stay long with the tablet or computer.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OUTDOORS.
Even within your compound and as long as no one is infected in your house or neighbors. Outdoor play is a very healthy way to keep the kids active. Teach them basketball, volleyball, pingpong, and other games. Hide and seek or tumbang preso. Simply take a tour around the house and discover something new. Plant some vegetables, even a tree. The outdoors can be a story of an adventure fairy tale where you can be imaginative. Anytime kids can be around trees and fresh air can be great for them.
REST.
Keep track of the day and with your routine. Let the kids have a siesta. Let the day end whenever the day usually ends for you and your children. The night should remain the same as normal days.
KEEP THEIR CHARACTERS STRONG- TO PREPARE THEM TO GO BACK TO THE COMMUNITY!
Teach them to value other people. Teach them respect, respect for elders, respect for authorities, including social distancing. Teach them to respect people and pay no attention to race, skin color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status such as disability, age, marital and family status, sexual orientation and gender identity, health status, place of residence, economic and social situation. Teach them peaceful communication, teach them to negotiate, a simple life skill.
Your kids might be wondering what is happening. Let them understand the situation but always keep in mind to help them stay calm by keeping them engaged with learning activities while staying at home.
