Zamboanga, Basilan, and Davao were the three areas that served as host provinces to the continuing roll out of the EAI-PH Messaging Hubs (MH) for peace this month.
In November 13, TWG members and guests gathered at the Basilan State College Library to attend the launching of the Basilan Sub-Regional Node MH. The Basilan MH is hosted by Basilan State College (BaSC) with strong support from no less than its college president, Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain who graced the launching and MOU signing.
Before the launching, a strategic planning was attended by members of the TWG which included instructors and staff from BaSC, DSWD – 4Ps, PLGU-Basilan, BAPESDA, INc., Isabela Foundation Inc., and BYLP Basilan. Mr. Alsad L. Lahaman, BaSC Peace Coordinator, presented their three-year plan during the launch.
Meanwhile, the Integrated Resource Development for Tri-People (IRDT) served as the host for the ZamPenBaSulTa MH which launched last November 16 at the LM Metro Hotel, Zamboanga City.
A two-day strategic planning with the ZamPenBaSulTa TWG Members preceded the launching at the IRDT Office and the Asia Academic School.
The members consisted of representatives from: IRDT, Asia Academic School, the LGU of Zamboanga City’s PIO, CMO-GAD, and CPDO, ABA Trainings, Inc., SK Federation of Zamboanga City, Noorus Salam, Western Mindanao State University-SAF Malangas, UNHCR Region 9, and the Tausug League for Social Transformation.
During the launch, Ms. Christine V. Yambao, WMSU-SAF Administrator Advisor and TWG Member, gave an inspiring message explaining the importance of the MH and the future that they are looking forward to as peace innovators and influencers.
Rounding up the month’s establishment of regional MH nodes was the launching of the Davao MH hosted by Ateneo de Davao’s Al Qalam Institute held last November 30 at the Community Center of the First Companions in AdDU.
EAI-PH’s strong partners in progress were in attendance during the launch including Al Qalam’s Kenny Angon, as well as members of the Technical Working Group, representatives from government agencies such as the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), National Youth Commission (NYC), City Government of Davao City, and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Davao, and finalists of the MPower Awards of Salaam Movement, who are Tech Camp alumni.
The MH is a convergence platform for positive social change movements in Mindanao. It seeks to collaborate with stakeholders in the region to create a venue for knowledge-sharing, build an information ecosystem, capacitate peace influencers, and create powerful advocacies for peace.
EAI-PH is set to launch the NorthMin and CARAGA MH.#
