As part of their 6-month intensive fellowship, EAI-PH’s peace promotion fellows have begun organizing different community projects aiming to promote peace in key areas in Mindanao.
Last November 23, fellow Lo Ivan Castillon kicked off the Bangsamoro Youth Peacebuilding (BYP) with a launching at the People’s Center, MILG-BARMM, Cotabato City where 18 young and qualified peacebuilders were oriented on the three-month capacity building program that they will participate in.
The training design for young peacebuilders, coming from different sectors such as orphanages, youth organizations, in-school youth, and indigenous people, will provide a space for creativity in developing initiatives that are relevant and timely in the context they are in.
Meanwhile, Aiyn Eldani successfully implemented her Lakbay Kultura program last November 19 at the Hadji Gulamu Rasul Elementary School in Jolo, Sulu. Here, she gathered 52 grade school students who experienced a tour and exposure to the different Moro cultures and traditions of peace.
Among the topics included were: brief history of places, traditional clothing, language, arts, artifacts, native delicacies and other materials distinct to the group. This activity aimed at preserving and promoting the rich Moro cultures, history and heritage to the young Bangsamoro generation.
Seven other fellows will be implementing their projects all over Mindanao by December: Ashley Dejarme’s “In The Loop Initiative” workshop will happen on December 7 and Rowel Damas’ “Teen Trail for Peace,” Ayesha Warid’s “Pag Iskul Ha,” and Mohammad Usop Sugadol’s “PEACEsonality” will be launching their projects on December 14.
Before the holidays, Delilah Luzon’s “BukidKnown” and Jetro Resonar’s “Balik Lantaw” will be kicking off on December 18 while Reen Hashim’s “Project COMmunity” will be organized on December 19.
The PPF is a 6-month fellowship program for high-performing Tech Camp graduates that will provide ongoing mentorship, a monthly stipend, and technical expertise as they develop and implement innovative messaging projects.
Fellows are encouraged to work with other graduates as they develop their community-based and messaging-oriented PTVE projects. #
